Running out of time

I've got no time at the moment. Three jobs and other commitments are sucking my sleep and free time dry. There are things I have to write about but cannot feel the urgency or words whenever I do have a few free minutes (like right now). So, instead you get this: an updated list of my top 5 8 10 funeral songs (for my own funeral, and don't fuck with the wishes of the dead, should any grave injustice befall me (ha! I kill me)), which I spoke about with a roommate during my few free minutes of free time last night. The rules, as we decided, were that you could have only one song that is obviously about death, one really popular song, and I forget if there were any other rules. Mostly, the songs should define some aspect of life that defined, in some small way, what this crazy ride was about to your departed soul, or, hell, that just really got to you, one way or the other.

1. Brothers on a Hotel Bed, Death Cab for Cutie

2. Next Exit, Interpol

3. a. Gravity Rides Everything, Modest Mouse

b. Porcelain - Moby (a. and b. both have strong references to death, but I'd be pissed if you didn't play both at my send off, and I made the rules, so blah. I get six songs.)

4. This is a Fire Door Never Leave Open - The Weakerthans. (highly inappropriate for a funeral, I suppose. But I fucking love it.)

5. Cat Faces - Ugly Casanova

6. Amsterdam - Coldplay (Fuck you. I make the rules. And my one popular song.)

7. Wake Up - Arcade Fire (See above.)

8. Recycled Air - The Postal Service

9. I can't think of ten. Something obscure that someone who loves me can sing. I have to run. I'm late. (ha!)
