huh?

2006-03-20

And now I am an author

When the parentals come to visit, you can usually count on them bringing stuff with them that you don't need or didn't want - a credit card bill from five months ago, for example - but every now and then you strike the useless junk jackpot.

Here's the first book I wrote; it's four pages long, hand-stapled, and near as I can tell, completely without peer.

I give you now, in all its glory, The Man and the Bird (copyright date unknown).

Nice title page, huh?

Notice my creative spelling techniques, circa 1985. Gasp at the wonder of the incredible cliffhanger at the end of page 2! And so early in the narrative! What on Earth will the man say?

Shut up. The man said, shut up! Given the context (man, existing, bird, singing) I think it's a reasonable response.

And just in case you thought there was more to learn about the man and the bird...

Nope. You were wrong. Man exists, bird sings, man tells it to shut up. That about covers it. It's basically a story that's been dying to be told for literally dozens of years.

And now you have it.

Shut up!
